Crowdfunding Can’t Wait

 In Social Capital, Startup Corner

As the year ends and we continue to wait for SEC regulations concerning crowdfunding to be finalized, some crowdfunding sites, like crowdfunder, are applying fundraising techniques from creative project financing sites like Kickstarter and Indiegogo to raise funds for for-profit companies. In the absence of being able to offer equity stakes in exchange for funding, companies on these sites are raising funds through contribution campaigns, sending product and schwag – rather than shares or member interests – to their funders. Our clients The Unreasonable Institute and Toniic have taken notice, monitoring fundraising developments in the social impact community section of the crowdfunder site.
